Leaf Files LLC ("Leaf Files," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Leaf Files mobile application and website at leaffiles.app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service.

By using Leaf Files, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, username, display name, and date of birth (used solely for age verification at registration and never displayed in the app).
• Profile Information: You may optionally provide a profile photo and banner image.
• Cigar Logs: Information you enter about your cigars, including brand, name, ratings, tasting notes, photos, location, occasion, price, and personal notes.
• Reviews: Lounge reviews and ratings you submit.
• Wishlist: Cigars you add to your wishlist.
• Payment Information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. We store your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription.
• Phone Number: If you choose to provide it for the contact matching feature (Premium only).

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: With your permission, we collect your GPS coordinates to find nearby cigar lounges and auto-detect your location when logging a cigar. Location data is used in real time and is not stored on our servers.
• Photos: Photos you upload for cigar logs and your profile are stored in our cloud storage (Supabase Storage). Photos taken for the AI band scanner are sent to our server for processing and are not retained after identification.
• Usage Data: We collect basic usage information such as scan counts, log counts, and feature usage to provide rank progression and statistics features.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

• AI Band Scanner: When you use the band scanner, your cigar band photo is sent to the Anthropic API (Claude) for identification. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. Images are not stored after identification is complete.
• Google Places API: When adding a new lounge, we use Google Places for address autocomplete. Google's privacy policy applies to this data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Process your cigar logs, reviews, ratings, and wishlist entries
• Display your public logs in the community feed (only if you choose to make them public)
• Identify cigars using the AI band scanner
• Find nearby cigar lounges using your location
• Process subscription payments through Stripe
• Calculate your rank, achievements, and statistics
• Enable social features including following, friend discovery, and contact matching
• Generate PDF exports of your cigar journal
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service
• Verify that users meet the minimum age requirement of 21 years

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• Public Content: Cigar logs you mark as "public" are visible to other users in the community feed. Your username, display name, profile photo, rank badge, and public logs are visible to other users.
• Service Providers: We use third-party services to operate the Service:
  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Anthropic (Claude) — AI cigar band identification
  • Google — Places API for lounge address lookup
  • Vercel — web hosting
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure with row-level security policies that ensure users can only access their own data. Photos are stored in secure cloud storage buckets. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.

While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and Correction: You can view and edit your profile information, logs, and reviews directly in the app.
• Deletion: You can delete individual cigar logs and reviews. To request complete account deletion, contact us at the email below.
• Public/Private Logs: You control whether each cigar log is public or private.
• Discoverability: You can toggle whether your profile appears in search results via the "Appear in search results" setting.
• Location: You can deny or revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings. The app will continue to function without location access.
• Subscription: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal, accessible from your account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

Leaf Files is intended for users who are 21 years of age or older. We verify age at registration by collecting date of birth. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 21. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 21, we will delete that information promptly.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

8. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as lounge websites, social sharing platforms, and payment processors). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
